The Recession Prediction Business

You’ve probably heard the old joke about the “expert” who predicted eight of the last three recessions.

It’s impossible to forecast the direction of the market in the short term.

The financial websites, of course, want you click on their stories. Breathless headlines are seductive.

I know of a nearby company that pays a fellow to come in and give a talk outlining the next two decade occurrences of upcoming financial rapture events. (Great work, if you can get it.)

Yes, there will one day be a recession. No one can reliably tell you when.

Life is simpler and more pleasant when you stop using up your precious time and bandwidth trying to game out when. If you organize your existence with the knowledge that one will happen sometime, you’ve done all that is humanly possible. Now, go out and do something fun.
