So when my late wife was diagnosed with cancer, she encouraged me to buy Fletcher who is the horse pictured above in our local paper this morning. Thoughtful Peggy said, “You’re going to need a distraction.” Turned out she was right, as usual.
Kait has been using him the past few years for speed events at the local county 4-H fair. Candidly, I worry a little bit because Fletch is getting into his senior years. But he’s a good “utility infielder” and seems to enjoy the activity. This is Kait’s last year in 4-H so Fletcher gets to move into semi-retirement. (I can relax about it.)
My only regret is that my Dad isn’t around to see this picture. He always asked me about how the horse was doing and he would have gotten a big kick out of it.
