Rein has been a nice distraction from the headlines. It was a pretty cool (but short) night last week when her expectant mom looked a little agitated on our barn cameras. The time was just after 2 am. 20 minutes later the cameras showed something brown moving in the stall and Rein had been delivered. Her mom delivered her firstborn while standing. (Usually they would lie down.) The stall had been packed with straw so a “soft landing” could be assured.
Rein and her mom (Bee) checked out fine by our vet and six days later Rein can be seen above running around in the pasture. Helicopter mom is never far away.
It’s been a nice and fun diversion.
Some might say "therapeutic". Amazing how connections to other species can create such a space of comfort within us.
